Medium-Term Goals and Medium-Term Plans

Medium-term goals are set on the course of action for the academic and business management of NCU by Mayor of Nagoya City (university establishment body) for 2 terms, each 6 years, (first term: April 2006 to March 2012; second term: April 2012 to March 2018) after NCU was reorganized into a prefectural and municipal university corporation. NCU has established specific actions to attain the medium-term goals. Furthermore, NCU has set up plans for each academic/fiscal year (annual plans) to steadily carry out the medium-term plans.

Major Aims

Aiming to be the pride and love of all citizens of Nagoya, NCU will do the following:

  • Actively working on education and research issues that can contribute to the improvement of civic health and welfare
  • Mainly working on education and research issues related to the assistance to nurturing the next generation, the preservation of earth environment and the improvement and development of social environment
  • Contributing to the development of communal society by returning the education and research achievements to citizens and community

As a basis for stably promoting these efforts, NCU will strengthen its education ability and research ability and complete the management foundation to support these abilities.

Education

Cultivating human resources who have board vision and culture, mind for social and cultural cooperativeness and abundant creativity
Cultivating human resources who have advanced knowledge and technology, a sense of purpose and independence, and can contribute to communal society and international society

  • Completing the system of Education Support Center
  • Reviewing and restructuring all faculties,departments and courses of NCU
  • Systematically carrying out faculty development (FD)
  • Completing and strengthening the academic affairs work system, and developing the functions of academic affairs staff
Cultural Education
  • Introducing education that can contributes to the improvement of communication ability
  • Strengthening the language education system
Professional Education
  • Designing and announcing education course organization policy (curriculum policy) and degree conferment policy (diploma policy)
  • Utilizing the grade point average (GPA) system for educational guidance
Graduate Education
  • Enriching the on-campus and off-campus graduate school network (e.g., establishing a joint graduate school)
  • Assisting graduate students to be researchers who are responsible for the next generation
Research

Promoting leading-edge research activities that pass muster domestically and internationally in each research field of basic research, application research and clinical research

  • Assisting creative, pioneering academic research and NCU"s original academic research that is expected to grow in the future
  • Completing the research environment for younger faculty members and women faculty members
Social Contribution and industry-academia-government collaboration

Working on the development of communal society by collaborating with citizens, communal society, business enterprises, and the like

  • Establishing a center for promoting communal contribution with cross-the-university approach
  • Promoting researches related to administrative issues, and actively transmitting the achievements
Internationalization of University

Actively promoting the internationalization of university education and research functionInternational Exchanges

  • Establishing "International Exchange Center" as a basis for promoting the internationalization
  • Actively sending of faculty members and students to foreign countries and accepting researchers and students from foreign countries
University Hospital

Extensively contributing to community and society through medical services with a character of university hospital

  • Enriching the medical care system in response to changes in environment surrounding medical services
  • Strengthening the functions of the hospital in the highly acute stage, including those of perinatal-period care, pediatric care and emergency medical care
Administration Management and Others
  • Securing and nurturing regular staff without status of civil servants
  • Exactly carrying out the faculty member performance evaluation system, and introducing a new faculty ember evaluation system
Financial Affairs
  • Supporting stable corporate management by taking appropriate management improving measures based on financial analysis results
  • Improving the self-income ratio, and securing the continuous income of the university hospital
