Summary of the article's point: In hepatitis C virus infection,the progression of the clinical stage is associated with gut dysbiosis ,even if patients are asymptomatic.Overgrowth of viridans streptococci can contribute to the production of ammonia in chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis

Genus composition of fecal samples from healthy individuals and chronic hepatitis C patients.

Fecal samples from healthy individuals (n=23,2sets) and chronic hepatitis C(CHC) patients diagnosed as persistently normal serum alanine aminotransferase (PNALT,n=18), chronic hepatitis
(CH, n=84),liver cirrhosis(LC,n=40),and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC,n=24)were grouped according with the clinical stage of CHC and ordered according with Streptococcus abundance
